Happy Birthday Erin!

So it’s maybe just still a special person’s birthday over on their side of the world, a teamie from the SBS DT, Erin’s, and I’ve a card made especially for her with the super cute image Betty drew for her.

I had to do this card in a limited time due to work being so busy so boy was I glad my new step card die arrived in the mail just in time.  It made doing up the base super easy and allowed me to do a fancier card than time would otherwise have allowed as no measuring, just used the die pieces.

I was a bit stumped on how to decorate the card, when I layered on the die cuts it looked a bit plain so I did what I always do when I need inspiration, I went and checked out the challenges listed on Paper Playful.  Clear It Out has a challenge going to use an animal, had that so then on to the stash item, it was striped paper.  Had a bit of a dig around my scrap draw and ta-dah! this fab messy stripe paper in purple too, from the back of it I’d say it’s from Graphic 45’s Halloween in Wonderland collection.  The messy stripes kinda look like twigs I thought, perfect for little owls to perch on.

And aren’t those owls just gorgeous, loving the dies in the La-La-Land Club Kits!  The tag is from the same kit and I layered things up with different adhesives to add depth to my card.  With all my layers I am entering this in the current challenge over at Come and Get It.

The image comes with and without the fabby frame; I decided my card shape really needed a frame so I went with that version.  As I have a frame I am also entering this in Stamps & Fun = Creativity’s current challenge.  Rather than fussy cut the inside of my frame too I decided to add a bit of sparkle and bling with a painted background using some Twinkling H2Os, which I think finished off the card nicely.

Sure hope you had an awesome day Erin and you like your card, it isn’t quite coming to you via Owl Mail but is winging its way over to you!

Happy Birthday Lisa!

Today is a very special day, it’s the birthday of one of my awesome teamies, Lisa, and I’ve made a calendar and notepad holder for her featuring her special birthday image from Betty.

And a shot of the card closed.

These little calendars were featured on the Noor Design blog with a tut by Clarissa and I knew I wanted to make one as soon as I saw them but had to wait for something special.  And what could be more special than the birthday of a wonderful person?

I haven’t Steampunked in a while and it was fun to get out my metal embellies.  There aren’t too many layers on this project, on account of how it has to fold down, but there are still lots of elements.  As You Like It are asking what your favourite style is, so I guess from this you’d say my favourite style is fussy and I guess it is.  Don’t get me wrong, I do like a CAS card and when the image calls for it I’ll go CAS but I think I like my layers and my embellies too much to ever go completely CAS.

To soften up my metal embellies I added in some small flowers, another favourite of mine.  With my flowers I’m entering this over at the current challenge at Through the Purple Haze.  Flowers are also the theme at Creative Knockouts so I’m also entering my card there.

Mine eyes dazzle

I’m sharing a card featuring the new and gorgeous Duchess Betty from Simply B Stamps.

The layout of my card comes from the current sketch at Sketchy Colors, in keeping with the lacy ruffles on Duchess Betty’s dress I’ve swapped out the long rectangular element for some lovely lace.  I also swapped out the smaller oval for a floral element instead.

Over at Cut It Up! their current theme is romance, which this image certainly is and I have the three elements they require (flowers, lace and pearls plus a die cut, I’ve got two) so I’m entering my card there.

I love a tic tac toe challenge to help get a card completed so I’ve played along with the current one at Our Creative Corner and gone for a diagonal line featuring embossing powder, a stamps (the beautiful image) and some lace.

Well now if you’ve got a cutie who’s a real sweet petutie…

This new Lola Western Cutie image from Simply B Stamps I have on my card is a real sweet petutie, don’t you agree?

I loved colouring the folds in her skirt and am really pleased with how she turned out.  I tried a new red combo (see ingredients list below) and I love it, especially teamed with black.

My card layout is from the current sketch at Cheerful Sketches where I swapped out the circle elements for some hearts.  I wanted to use some of my new dies on this, the two scalloped ones are from an Anna Griffin set I picked as this is actually going out to the sweet friend who got the die for me.  The black lace is new and I thought worked perfectly for the horizontal element, the shape suited the western theme and tied in nicely with the image.

Over at Hanna and Friends they have embossing as their theme, I have two kinds on my card.  I’ve got some heat embossing with some Fran-tage to make my sentiment just a little more special and my dies were embossing dies also.

As I have a number of hearts on my card I am also entering this in the current challenge at Live and Love Crafts.
