A Striking Resemblance of Master Christian

There’s a new Steampunk release over at Simply B Stamps you just have to go and check out, they are simply amazing!  There’s a whole collection of portraits featuring none other than Betty’s own family.  For my project I’ve used the very distinguished Christian.
As this is another release day image as part of my time on the Simply Steampunk Challenges' DT, I’ve placed my image on a piece of kraft and it will go into my keepsake box.

Don’t forget to head on over to the Simply Steampunk Challenges' site and check out our current challenge, “Frame It”.  You still have over a week to enter so come on and show us your best framed Simply B Stamps' Steampunk.

And if you needed encouragement to leave me some bloggy love, if you leave me a comment telling me which Simply B Stamps' Steampunk image is your fav and why you could win the totally awesome Jude Portrait from the new collection (thanks to Betty for this prize).  The most creative comment left by Monday 27 May will win (dont forget to add your email address).
Head over to the Simply Steampunk Challenges site and leave a comment there and you can win three of these awesome images, leave some love on the other DT gal's blogs (links from the challenge site) and they too are giving away an image.  I know, so much bloggy love and so many awesome images to win, its too much fun!

Episode XL: Scott’s Day

A fortieth birthday is an event worth celebrating and when it is for someone who is as close as a brother it is worth celebrating in style.  And what better style is there than a Simply B image?  My friend is a mad keen Star Wars for fan so I just had to use that for the theme of his card.  I tried to adapt things as much as I could although I ran out of steam on the opening line and the episode title.

So here goes with my Star Wars inspired cascade card, starting with the front.

For the second section I used a picture of the Millennium Falcon, mainly because it was the right shape.  I’ve never watched Star Wars (I know, one of the handful on people on the planet not to have!) so had no idea whose ship this was.

And finally on to the centre featuring Jedi Betty.

I made the card following a tutorial by Beccy of Beccy’s Place.  And considering the current theme at Movie Magic Monthly Challenge I’m entering this over there.

Lavinia’s Journal

I’ve cropped the image to fit in a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate, which I fixed to one of his District Market journals.  I added some Liquid Glass over the image to protect it and make it look like it is under a piece of glass.  Doesn’t this make a grand personalised journal?

Cherry Topped Wishes

This little card features the sweet Wryn with a Cherry on Top from Tiddly Inks.
As this was for a little girl’s birthday, I used a lot of brightly coloured papers and shades of pink.  I also remembered to leave enough room when I printed my image to be able to use a die to cut a nice frame around it.  I love the embossed border from the Spellbinders’ die as it allows you to then put a coloured frame around the die-cut shape, although my chalking technique needs some work to keep it even!

Tiddly Inks are having a “use a Wryn” challenge so I’m entering my card in that challenge.

Ingredients:
Copics

The Time Please Sir

Today I wanted to share with you another one of Simply B Stamps' gorgeous Classic Collection Steampunks; his name is Clocks.

Love all the floaty ruffles and details on his jacket!  I’ve made this one into a tri-shutter card, the first time I’ve tried this card type.  I followed a tutorial by Bonnie at the Craftiblog and this is what it looks like opened out.
My card has lots of ‘manly’ embellishments on it as this is for a 70th birthday for a friend’s father.  I found the very appropriate sentiment in my stash, it’s a sticker from CTHM.

I think this card shows how versatile the Steampunk images over at Simply B Stamps, nothing out there or gruesome about this sage old gentleman.  In fact, he looks like Father Time to me and just perfect for a milestone birthday.

Im entering this card into the Crafty Catz challenge, which is an anything goes one.  Im also entering it into the Left of Center use a digi (covered) or LOC theme (Steampunk is one so covered that too).

A Top Tea Party

I’ve something a little different to share with you today, a top hat.  It doesn’t look that much from the front, does it?  And why does it have a lid you ask?
Here’s the side view showing the gorgeous Rio N Toots Tea Party stamp from Simply B Stamps.
I’ve got a thing for tea parties (as does the recipient of this special top hat) and hats (even though I don’t wear them myself) so I just love this image.  It’s modeled on Betty’s own daughter, Rio, and her outfit for a recent school dance.  The pins are ones I made up, there’s a mushroom in the teapot as a nod to my little avatar, Emily Shroom.

I’ve never made a top hat before but that didn’t stop me altering the pattern for this one from Laura de la Rosa on the Graphic 45 blog.  I’ve also never made a mini album before but I’m always up for a challenge so altering the top hat pattern to include a mini album inside was just par for the crafting course with me.  Here’s what’s hiding under the lid.

This piece took a lot of work, all of the weekend just gone to be precise so it deserves a pile it on challenge entry so, to that end, I’m entering it into the following challenges:
